Update from Blossum HQ…

Blossum is blossoming!

Our little business is growing, expanding and learning... and it seems to be taking us all along for the ride.

I began Blossum in my home kitchen, baking for a few local cafes. After a few months it became very clear that to produce anything other than cakes and cookies we would need a commercial kitchen. My home had turned into a workplace, and enormous bags of flour and sugar don’t really belong in domestic kitchens. We had 3 fridges running and the dining table was usually full of baked goods ready for delivery.

In February of this year we moved into a commercial kitchen in North Fremantle. Owned by the Gare family, heaps of storage downstairs, a cool room, a small office upstairs - it was perfect! Our time in North Fremantle was awesome, I had a place to work that was not my home, we did several large catering jobs from here and the old spiral staircase gave a few people dizzy spells, much to my amusement!

An opportunity presented itself to gain a retail front not long after moving to North Freo, with a few false starts over paperwork and lease documents. On the 1st of June I picked up the keys to our very own space. 126m2 all for Blossum.

We completed the commercial kitchen fit out in 3 weeks, and the retail front space in 6. Most of the work has been done by us, though specific tradies were called in as required. My husband has worked tirelessly, I have become an expert painter and my children have lived off cheese toasties solidly!

Depending on the day that you catch me, I am either excited or petrified about what lays ahead for Blossum. But my vision is clear:

Blossum will provide our customers with delicious, home cooked food. Real food, made from real ingredients, sourced locally where possible. We are a grab’n go outlet, for beautiful breakfasts, gourmet salads and family dinners.

We open our doors on Monday 17th July.

Come and say hi!
